Keep My Pets Safe and Ready

California has been known to be sunny and warm, with clear blue skies, without any worries of severe weather. Although we have the best weather in the world! we should never doubt severe storms in the winter season. We must keep our loved ones safe and prepared for the worst, including our pets!

Pet Safety in Emergencies:

• Prepare a disaster kit for your pets so evacuation will go smoothly for your entire family.
• Plan where you and your pet will stay in case you need to evacuate your home. Pets may not be allowed in local shelters, unless they are service animal. (JFYI... Red Cross shelters don't allow pets)
• Create a buddy system in case you’re not home during an emergency. Ask a trusted neighbor who can check on your pets and can evacuate if necessary.
• Practice evacuations with your pets so they have an idea of where to go and what to do.
