Depending on where the water came from is a big question...  

If you had a sewage backup and your carpet is grossly contaminated, obviously we wouldn't try and restore in that scenario.

Now, if the water came from a clean water source like a refrigerator supply line, we then could try and restore the carpet since it was from a clean water source. Depending on what the situation might be, we will always follow the industry standards and attempt to save rather than replace.
