Cigarette Smoke Odor Removal

12/5/2019 (Permalink)

Cigarettes have been around for hundreds of years and they continue to be a source of harmful odors. Not only do they contaminate the air, but they will discolor surfaces with a yellowish-brown tint.

Some short term solutions include:

1. Using a vinegar spray and wiping surfaces

2. Using scented candles or air fresheners

3. Buying indoor plants

To fully eliminate cigarette smoke odor:

1. Clean/replace air filters

2. Clean walls/ceilings with ammonia and glycol, then repaint

3. Hire a professional cleaning company (SERVPRO). The professional process involves a thorough cleaning followed by the use of ozone generators that destroy the smoke particles that are hiding deep within a surface.

Cigarette smoke can be a nuisance, but there's ways to fight back!

House Cleaning Hacks

Clean House = Clean Spirit

House work can be the worst part of the weekend.. its time consuming, tiring and sometimes straight up gross! However, we love the freshness and satisfaction that comes from having a sparkling clean house.. there's nothing better right?

I've found some great hacks to make chores easier and maybe even a little fun! The best part? No harsh chemicals... you'd be surprised what you can do with vinegar, baking soda, toothpaste and even Coca Cola!

Here goes:

1. Clean a burnt pan with vinegar, water & baking soda

Fill the pan with water and one cup of white vinegar. Bring it to a boil, turn off heat & add 2 tablespoons of baking soda. Allow time to cool, then wipe the mixture out of the pan!

2. Microwave is easily cleaned with vinegar

Mix  part water, part vinegar in a microwave-safe bowl. you may want to include a wooden toothpick or another small peace of wood, to prevent boiling over. Microwave on high for 5 minutes. Once cooled, take out the bowl and with a sponge or cloth, wipe down the inside of the microwave. No scrubbing, no chemicals, no hassle.

You can also add lemon to the mixture for a fresh, clean scent!

3. Clean your sponge

Sponges can pick up a lot of bacteria, so you want to make sure you clean it frequently.

It's super easy: pop it in the microwave for 30 seconds to remove the germs! Just wait a minute or two before pulling out since it'll still be hot.

You can also put your sponge in the dishwasher to get it nice and clean again.

4. Clean shower scum with vinegar and dish soap.

Cleaning the bathroom is the worst! The good news is there's an easy way to remove soap scum and grime building up in the shower.

Fill a bowl with half vinegar and half dish soap. Now start scrubbing! You can also use an old sponge or toothbrush and just dip into a cup of the same solution. No harsh chemicals required.

5. Clean your couch with baking soda

Baking soda can help remove odors and break up stains on the fabric. Begin by brushing off the surface of the couch, then sprinkle baking soda on the area you want to clean. Allow it sit for 20 minutes, then vacuum with attachment tool

6. Use toothpaste to clean sneakers

Grab an old toothbrush and a little toothpaste to get your sneakers looking like new again!

7. Make your rings sparkle with dish soap

The easiest, and safest, way to clean an engagement ring or other type of ring is to soak it in warm water and a small amount of dishwashing soap for 20 minutes. Then use a soft toothbrush to remove left over dirt, or makeup.

8. Baking soda for brighter, cleaner laundry

Add a cup of baking soda in with your load and your clothes will be brighter and cleaner!

9. Clean cloudy glasses with vinegar

Use a paper towel and a small amount of vinegar to get your glasses crystal clear!

10. Multiple uses for dryer sheets

Even after they've been used, dryer sheets can work magic around your house. Use them to buff away water marks on bathroom and kitchen fixtures or remove that ring inside the toilet. You can even protect your baseboards from hair and dust by wiping them down with these handy dandy static eliminating sheets.

11. Cola to clean oil stains off your garage floors

Pour Coca Cola onto the stained area. Work the Coke into the stain with a nylon scrub brush. Avoid using a wire brush on concrete, this will leave noticeable scratches. Allow the soda to sit on the stain an hour or two. Then hose down with some pressure and the stain is gone!

Frankly, I found tons of great hacks for all types of chores but far to many to list here. Below you will find links to a couple of sites that helped me share these cool tricks with you, our valued customers.
